What is Hypnosis?
You were born with the ability to hypnotize yourself and do it every 4 minutes all day long! It is not manipulation, mind control, or magic; you cannot be MADE to do anything you don't want to do. Think about it... if I could MAKE a person lose weight...wouldn't I be RICH??!!
Have you ever tuned out voices to concentrate on the TV or the sentence you were reading? That's Hypnosis! Have you ever pretended to watch TV or read while tuning into someone else's conversation? That's Hypnosis! Driving down the road and think "wait where am I?" That's Hypnosis! Zoning, tuning in, tuning out, FOCUS. It's all just focus and that is exactly what Hypnosis is...FOCUS while bringing the brain to a relaxed state. You pass through a hypnotic level to get to REM sleep every night.
Your Hypnotist is trained to heighten this focus so you can access your subconscious mind, release old 'stuff', and generate change for a different future.
Can anyone be hypnotized?
Yes! Anyone who is willing to be hypnotized can be hypnotized. A common misconception of hypnosis is a client thinking that they are "too strong-willed" to be hypnotized. In fact, it's quite the opposite. The stronger your ability to focus and concentrate, the faster and easier you will go into hypnosis.
Is it a Trance or Sleep?
No. Hypnosis is actually a heightened state of awareness. You will be completely cognizant of your surroundings. You will hear cars outside or noises next door and always my voice--confirming you are alert and in control the entire time. There is also many techniques used in "awake hypnosis" which take place during a normal conversation.
How does it feel?
By definition, hypnosis is not a state of relaxation, but rather, a state of high focus. But because many issues are related to stress or anxiety, we typically do seek a relaxed state to assist in making the changes necessary. Most people report feeling very relaxed or floating. Many clients are surprised at how "normal" the experience feels. Television and movies have portrayed hypnosis as sleep or trance with your mind under the Hypnotist's control; such nonsense! Your mind will be alert and perceptive to the suggestions it is receiving and you will remember the majority if not all of the experience.
How do I know it will work?
The success of your experience is dependant on two factors - your willingness to allow change and the skills of the hypnotist. You must
want the change in behavior or a new mindset because YOU are ready not because of pressures from other people. When YOU are fed up with your situation, such as: coughing everyday from smoking, feeling awkward in a swimsuit, or sweating when speaking to a group, then you are primed for success!
Hypnosis is not a "one size fits all" process. We will identify your goals together and custom-design a program for your success. Your success absolutely rests on your following directions and implementing the tools of Hypnosis. You must "work the hypnosis if you want hypnosis to work for you."
Is Hypnosis dangerous?
Just the opposite! Hypnosis is a natural ability of the mind that we all experience daily. You will not: lose control--you actually gain control or be compelled to do anything against your will--you choose to follow suggestions based on your own values and will, At any point, you can open your eyes or get up during hypnosis.
The use of hypnosis has been recognized by the American Medical Association since 1958. It is completely safe when practiced by an experienced, professionally certified hypnotist. It is only dangerous while driving or operating machinery, so you should not listen to hypnosis audio products in those situations. There has not been one documented case of hypnosis doing harm to a person.
How much time will it take to see results?
Rapid change is possible with hypnosis. Session times vary from 60-90 minutes. Most people have a distorted sense of time; you may feel like you have been hypnotized for only a couple minutes, even though the hypnotic process is usually 30-45 minutes of our time together.
